Wellington Vengayi Mugwagwa is the founder of Annointed Excel and Sports Excellence Trust. He is currently a trustee and secretary of The Sports Excellence Trust and Team Leader of Annointed Excel.



Wellington Vengayi Mugwagwa was born on 21 March 1973, and was raised in Gweru Mkoba suburb. On completion of ordinary level in 1990, Mugwagwa failed to proceed for advanced level because he wanted to study commercials but he was offered arts.

 In 2012 he teamed up with Reverend Doctor Ray Motsi and Doctor Robert Heaton to publish Christian Magazines called Set Alight magazine.  In 2016 Mugwagwa founded The Sports Excellence Trust. From 2016 Sports Excellence Trust supported and sponsored grassroots football tournaments in Harare. In 2019 Mugwagwa organized football tournament in Chipinge for people affected by cyclone idai under the banner of Sports Excellence Trust. In 2020, he established Digital Edge and Annointed Excel companies.

Marketing and Printing Career

In 1992 Mugwagwa got a part time job as a merchandiser with Colgate Palmolive. He enrolled at Mambo Press for apprenticeship training in 1994. Mugwagwa’s intelligence and hard work earned him excellent results and he was the overall best student in 1996 at Harare Polytechnic – Printing and Graphic Arts department.  After graduating in 1998 as a class one journey he got a job at Mambo Press as a print finisher and worked for two years.

In 2000, Mugwagwa was appointed as marketing manager of Moto Magazine. His marketing strategies improved the financial position of Moto magazine. In 2002 he was head hunted by Associated Newspapers, publishers of Daily News and worked at Daily News Bulawayo office as a Sales Executive.  In 2003 the newspaper was closed and most employees were retrenched but he remained the only marketing executive who was spared at Bulawayo office. He joined Financial Gazette marketing department as a Sales Executive in 2006 and left in 2013.

Sports Administration and Marketing

Mugwagwa joined Zimbabwe Football Association as marketing manager from June 2013 to June 2016. He left when ZIFA leadership attempted to liquidate ZIFA and formed NAFAZ. In 2017 he joined Askeland Media as Account Executive responsible for sports marketing.   He left Askeland Media in March 2020 to establish his own sports marketing company called Ephoria Digisolutions trading as Digital Edge.

Ephoria Digisolutions t/a Digital Edge

Mugwagwa and three other partners founded Digital Edge in March 2020. Digital Edge is a sports marketing company. Six months down the line, other partners decided to suspend the project because sports industry was hard hit by Covid 19 pandemic. The other directors redirected their resources to other viable projects. 

Annointed Excel

Mugwagwa did not give up on his vision and he formed Annointed Excel in October 2020. Annointed Excel was given a contract by Rising Sports to do stadium branding during Zimbabwe versus Algeria in November 2020. The company also branded Real Betis Academy Zimbabwe training ground in December 2020. Annointed Excel specialize in branding, digital marketing, printing, sponsorship and event advertising.


 Mugwagwa attended Moses The Prophet primary school in Buhera and Ascot Secondary school in Gweru.
