Sports Excellence teams up with Celebration Church in Hopley

HARARE-Celebration Church successfully organized a football tournament in Hopley aimed at equipping football teams in the area and also identifying and nurturing talent from grassroots levels.

 The launch was graced by representatives from the church which include provincial pastor for the celebration church, Sports Excellence Trust was represented by Wellington Mugwagwa and Harrington Shereni who are Founders of the Trust. Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) representatives also attended the launch.

The tournament rolled into life on the weekend of the 6th of July 2018 with two quarter final and the finals were played on 18 August 2018.

This comes after Celebration Church and other partners which includes The Sports Excellence trust saw the need to support the community and identifying football talent in Hopley. The tournament featured under 13 and senior teams. Speaking at the launch of the tournament pastor Arthur Nyandoro of Celebration church praised the youngsters for taking a wise decision of joining different clubs which will help them to pursue their career in football. He also urged the youngsters to remain focused and be disciplined.

“I’m happy for the decision you have made and l would like to urge you to remain focused and pursue you career” said Pastor Arthur.

The sponsorship package worth $5000 of football equipment. All participating teams got equipment which includes soccer balls, bibs and kits. The winning teams got floating trophy, full kit, soccer balls and the winning coaches got tracksuits.  Other packages included shin pads for man of the match in every match for both the senior and the under 13 teams. The player of the tournament and goalkeeper of the tournament awards were sponsored by Sports Excellence Trust.

Former Warriors player Harrington Shereni who had stints in Europe took time to address the youngsters and urged them to be disciplined and focus on their career. The youngsters were happy to meet the former player and they promised him to do their best to emulate what he archived both at club and national level.

Wellington Mugwagwa who is the Co-Founder of Sports Excellence Trust delivered the kits to the organizing committee on behalf of the Trust. Mr July Sharara former Dynamos great represented the legends.

Sports Excellence Trust will place some of the best players with academies in Zimbabwe. All main players of the matches from quarter finals to the finals will be attached.
