TSHWANE-Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has welcomed the return of Andile Jali and midfielder Anthony Laffor.
Jali made his return to Sundowns starting line-up when the defending champions hosted Cape Town City in an Absa Premiership match at Loftus Stadium on Wednesday.
Jali, who has struggled with injuries in his first season with the Tshwane giants, was back in the starting line-up for the first time since the Nedbank Cup clash against Chippa United on January 26. He has made just 14 appearances in all competitions this season.
Laffor, meanwhile, started a domestic match for the first time since February and repaid the faith Mosimane showed in him by scoring in Sundowns’ 3-2 victory over the Citizens.
Both players could get another opportunity to start when Sundowns take on Bloemfontein Celtic at Loftus Stadium on Saturday (15h30).
“We made six changes [against City] to increase the competition and also increase the pool because after Bloemfontein Celtic we are going back to Wednesdays and Saturdays. Now it’s Champions League, Lobi Stars and Wydad Casablanca and those games in between,” said Mosimane.
“So put in Andile, give him a chance. He is a good football player. He has been looking for an opportunity and injuries have not been helping him, so give him chance to start again.
“Bring in Laffor, we have to manage him because he is not young any more. Kennedy [Mweene] has been doing well when [Denis] Onyango is not there and also Riva [Rivaldo Coetzee] must play. He is an international player for Bafana Bafana. We must help him so that Stuart [Baxter] can see he has a centre-back.” Kickoff
